A Horticulture Manager is responsible for ensuring a smooth and proper conduct of Guests Activities at spa resorts and coordinate with various other departments in order to ensure personalized, prompt and flawless service to all guests. The position will also act a as a One Point Contact for all guests activities.

What will I be doing

As a Horticulture Manager, you are responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards: 

Maintenance of shrub, vine, ground cover and turf maintenance, including decision making on method, timing and tools

Responsible for culture and care of specialty crops; bedding plant selection, care and layout

Propagate new plants through grafting and other measures, as well as prune plants and trees

Must have knowledge about soil conditions, irrigation needs, nutrient requirements, light intensity, plant pathology and plant in s

Perform diagnosis of nutrient deficiency, disease and/ or pest infestations and determine the best measures to remedy the problems

Perform landscape rehabilitation and re- development

Strategically place plants to create natural- looking settings

Oversee the preparation of seed beds, transfer of plants to containers, movement of container plants around the work site

Identify the need for and provide supplemental water in a sustainable manner

Maintain gardening tools and equipment in proper running order

Ensure cleanliness of all work areas and protect the surroundings when executing duties

Monitor the consumption of water for horticulture and create dynamic plans to reduce water consumption without affecting the standards of the operation

Ensure effective energy conservation measures in areas of operations

Plan and execute a Tour of horticulture for guests to would provide them with a memorable experience

Ensure effective service recovery pertaining to guests feedback

Understand the training needs of employees and coordinate the implementation of the training programme accordingly

To supervise teams of horticulture at all stages of growing and harvesting

Assists in any inventory / stock taking whenever required for the department

To formulate and upgrade (at least once per year) the Departmental Operations Manual, which is accessible at all times to all staff, detailing product specifications, standards of performance, maintenance and cleaning schedules, policies and procedures in accordance with company policy

To conduct a documented audit of standards in the department according to company guidelines at least once per annum with follow up action plans

Review all reports including daily log book prepared by dept. to ensure complete information, relevance, accuracy and follow- up points with a systematic distribution policy to ensure prompt management review

A Horticulture Manager serving Hilton Worldwide Brand hotels and vacations are always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow: 

A degree in Horticulture or similar, required

A trade qualification or similar training, preferred

Experience in a senior position with extensive working knowledge of Horticulture operations, preferably in the hotel industry

Current knowledge of modern trends and applications in the field of Horticulture

Exposure to budgeting and basic accounting

Strong leadership skills and previous experience of managing a team

Advanced level of proficiency with computers and relevant computer programs Job Engineering, Maintenance and Facilities
